Fast blow fuses are just plain copper fuse wire. Slow-blow or anti-surge
fuses rely on the fuse wire heating and rupturing the soldered joint with
the spring, which then fully pulls the joint apart. Even fast-blow fuses
might not be fast enough for some applications - in which case MCBs
(miniature circuit breakers) would be better, and resettable!
