Good to hear from you! If the spindle is driven by belt or gear, he can
probably cut down on some of that microstep reduction needed.

Dave M. and I have been working on a "stepper pulser" that might be helpful
to those wanting a stepper driven spindle as well. It's just a little PIC
to generate ramped steps for a stepper. It's also useful for a "power feed"
for a lathe. The little side project was inspired by discussions on the
E-leadscrew list recently started.
