The Reliance Electrocraft BDC25L brushless amplifier I used was
bought on ebay for around $60 brand new. I just purchased another
one on ebay brand new for $26.

They take 115VAC straight from the wall, fuse, filter and rectifiy
it inside the opto-isolated drive and use that voltage to drive the
brushless servo (rated at 100VAC). AMC makes a similar drive (in
fact, when you take the cover off the BDC25L, it says Advanced
Motion Controls on the circuit board. The AMC model is BD25A20-AC.
Other drives I have tested are an AMC BE15A8E-H brushless drive, an
AMC 12A8 brush drive, and a Copley 422 brush drive. Pretty much any
drive that accepts +/-ref analog inputs for controlling the current
in the motor in torque mode will work.
Purchasing these drives new from the factory would be a bit on the
expensive side...I believe the BD25A20-AC is around $500. It is a
very very nice drive though. The torque and response of the Sanyo
brushless motor is amazing....It pushes around the table on my
7000lb VMC like it was a Sherline or something.
