A proposal for a flexible machine tool control system

Over the past few months I have been researching and following
discussion groups with regard to DROs and CNC for home workshop use.
While much of the available kit appears to be fine for its intended
purpose there always appear to be limitations so I have put forward a
provisional proposal for a configurable system that should be able to
meet most requirements from a simple DRO up to full blown CNC which
could be integrated with CAD/CAM.
I foresee this is a collaborative venture with voluntary input from
all relevant disciplines e.g. hardware design, programming, support
etc. and that the output would be largely in the public domain.
The only commercial input would be from a Vendor who would source and
supply components specific to the system such as bare PCBs. (I've no
interest in filling that role but do you?).
If this project is of interest then could you please e-mail me,
(bob[AT]chainganger.co.uk), with a request for a copy of the proposal:
I've deliberately not put the document in the Files section of this
group so that I can gauge if there is likely to be enough interest to
proceed.
This message is being posted in other groups so I apologise if you end
up having received it several times.
