Hi,
I did the same conversion. I made wipers for the ballscrews but never
put covers over them. They are pretty protected from chips as it is.
Plus I brush way oil on them now and then and if I covered them it
would be hard to do. I mostly machine aluminum on the machine.
I think if you just put wipers on the ballscrews you will be protected
pretty good.
