Hello to All:
I am new to this list and thought I would introduce myself.
I am a machinist/toolmaker/modelamker/moldmaker/instructor with 35 years
experience. I am currently (and for the past 13 years) a machine tool
instructor at a vo-tech high school in CT. Ours is a state system of 17
schools and when it suits the state I am a state employee and when it suits
the state I am a teacher. Generally each situation applies as it is least
convenient for me. I have primary responsibility for freshmen and
sophomores. But I am not shy about offering advice or instruction to
juniors or seniors!
I currently have full control of a Bridgeport BOSS 8 machine and have been
working with my sophomores on it. We are running Mastercam V7. and use it
for creating geometry and generating tool paths for the BP.
I have only been reading this list since 7/1 and most of the conversation
is still greek to me but I am starting to pick up bits and pieces. My main
interest in the list is to be able to troubleshoot the BOSS 8 when it goes
down. When, not if.
I will try to contribute as I am able and look forward to learning more
about the nuts and bolts of CNC.
Can anyone suggest a text of any sort that would provide an over view of
home brew CNC so I can get a better grip on what is being discussed?
