Get a copy of the regs for the UK. There are so many exemptions for
products that is almost laughable. It's obvious the thing was not
cooked up to get rid of lead but to try and stem the tide of the huge
flow of consumer type electronics. While things like cell phones and
TV's are not exempt, things for boats, and automobiles are and so is
a lot of industrial products or anything that goes on those products.
There is an exemption for PLC and VFD's as well as anything that goes
on an a piece of "stationary industrial equipment" Also exempt are
auto batteries and other obvious sources of lead and other nasty
things. Any replacement part for an existing product (mfg before
June1) is exempt.

Then there is the enforcement. Each country is still confused has to
make the laws regarding what to do. and then were does the money come
from to support the huge beurocracy to test compliance and to pursue
offenders?

I may be wrong but this whole thing may backfire and have the opposite
effect and drive buyers to get goods from the low cost non-compliant
contries.

I think the parties that are most interested in the RHoS complient
products are the ones that have complient components to sell. Great
way to force mfgs to buy new parts (:-o. So will the world end as we
know it on June 1? Somehow I doubt it.
