I would certainly give a big big try to just use it as is .... heck, some of
those oldies are goodies !!

Modern rocket speeds are not needed .. just start an hour early, and you
will be done in about the same time !!!!!!!

and trick G codes are highly over-rated as far as making 97% of what is made
in real shops ( not the trade magazines ) .... You can even crutch up
G40,41,42 if you need to ... just use CAD to draw a parellel line around the
desired part, using the radius of the tool as the offset. If its straight
lines, you can easily figure the offsets in a few seconds. You will be
surprised how many parts are just straight lines connecting arcs ... that
would be about g0,g1, and g2 and g3 ....

Embedded variables are nice but ... lets see, I used some about 3 years ago,
just for fun, I didn[t save only 5 minutes of typing a program....

Kinda important especially on a mill is the subroutine calls .. usually M98
... then you can sort of write your own trick sets of custom subs and just
leave them in the controller and call them as you need them. such as short
peck drill, long peck drill, pocket cuts, etc.

Just learn as you go along and I bet you will be making parts the same day
you plug it in .... and do spend a little time finding service sources for
the old beast.
