CNC to Power drive

I tried posting this before-but I don't think it ever made it-so here
it is again.
I have a Sureline mill and Lathe with the Backtrack CNC conversion.
I
find that I often keed to do little jobs that aren't worth firing up
the PC or switching the leads from the control box. But when doing
these little jobs, I'd like very much to have a "power feed"
Now I know there are a bunch of you guys out there that build CNC
controlers. And while I'm not into this stuff (at least YET) I can't
help thinking it would be fairly simple to build a "manuel" control
for the CNC motors. Maybe something that has a few set speeds and a
forward/revirse. I'd prob just as soom have it with a momentaiy
contact switch (have to hold down to make it feed).
So how about it guys-- any one want to stick something like this
together?
