My Boss 4 z axis stepper quit about 1986, I put in a 1000 oz/in SIGMA brand
for about $400 at the time ... (g) .... still working, direct bolt in except
the big heat sink didnt fit; still using it without a heat sink !! but we
don't push the speed... just start earlier, work gets done by the same
quitting time ... oh, Bridgeport wanted $1600 for a replacement motor at
the time, just to compare prices ....

Using Aerotech retrofit drivers & controls with a ibm pc box and home brewed
software ( forth language ).
