Hello,
1)Rent a laser interferometer<G>
2)Borrow a linear scale DRO from another tool.
3) Use a 12" dial caliper to miniminse the inchworming. (Come back to
any especially bad areas with the DI in the spindle)
4) Mount a scribe in the spindle and mark a blued piece of plastic or
aluminum. (Write a g code program to place 255 "lines" in this marker
strip along your axis travel. I think that's the number of corrections
Mach allows?) This will give a faster rough result, but likely won't be
as accurate as the others.
In any case, beware af angular--abbe--errors.
Hope this helps,
Ballendo
