Is anyone interested in how machine vision lenses differ from ordinary
lenses?

Here
http://www.edmundoptics.com/techSupport/DisplayArticle.cfm?articleid=239

is an article that discusses telecentric lenses. There are other articles
in that general area describing other aspects of machine vision.

My interest in using a camera in my CNC mill is to accurately characterize
light sources. This is largely a software problem. The hardware just has
to take pictures of the light source from all angles that it emits light
into. The software then generates a database of a large number (10^7 or so)
of rays that describe the source.

Is this getting off the CCED range of topics?

Elliot
