Graham,
It might be possible to very easily profile long ways. The electrode
holder doesn't need to be very rigid as it hovers above, but does
not touch, the part. I wonder if you could mount the electrode (Z
axis) on ways made of stretched wire/cable parallel to and above the
part. You would hold the work and pull the anode, with a third
cable, down the way cables over the part. The feed cable could be
pulled by a stepper/capstan. The tank could be a plastic rain
gutter. Power could be run down the cables which are positioned
above the salt bath. The down feed could be manually adjusted at the
end of each pass. I guess the feed rate could be adjusted based on
current. I have a multi meter that talks RS-232 which Mach should be
able to read.
Sounds way to simple to be do-able.
