Sorry, that was a bit of a wild goose chase.
We didn't bother to write a standalone program, but it might not be too hard
to pull out the stl slicer bit. I'm not exactly volunteering to do so right
now, but I've been going over the code a bit, and if it's just a 1-liner, I
might* end up doing it. Or you can, if you can hack java.

If you're using Rhino3D, it will import .stl and output slices..

You may also want to take a look at http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/

This may do stl, or the older version slicer2.6 might.
