introduction

I just joined this group and would like to introduce myself. My
nickname is helluvawreck or cedwreck but my name is Charles. I am
sort of a jack of all trades master of none. I am part owner of a
manufacturing plant and build some machines in our machine shop but
I'm a self taught machinist so I can't call myself a machinist. I
also build electrical control (relay/plc type) boxes for some
machines. Again not a professional control technician but self taught
by working on machines for 30 years. I am also a woodworker (we
manufacture architectural moulding). My hobbies are digital
photograpy, metalworking, blacksmithing, woodworking, reading,
building web sites, computers, and surfing. One of my longtime
desires is to build some machines that are controlled by computers to
make intricate wooden and metal parts for intricate toys. I am
currently trying to teach myself c++ programming and electronics. We
have just purchased a cnc router to make our knife grinding machine
templates. It's quite a machine and very accurate. This machine has
only whetted my appetite to learn how to build and control this type
of machine myself. If I can figure out the ins and outs of using
these stepper motors and drivers I have all sorts of machines that
I've thought about over the last few years to build and use. I sure
would like to learn from this group and maybe eventually contribute
to it. I thought it might be fitting to introduce myself. Please
forgive me if I have been too long winded on this introduction. I
hope that I will fit in here and can learn something from you guys.
