I have seen software that would take a picture, then digitize it, then
set depths of cut based on some value, dark color or some such. then
pass that on to G-Code so the unit can be cut as a relief.

I would have thought someone one here would know or use such software.

I'm pretty sure it is available.

I'll ask a friend who does use stuff like that.
