Re: Hysteresis Brake

I did a little experiment with a hard drive brushless motor last night
and was pleasantly suprized to find that when the windings were
shorted it created a light braking torque that was smooth. I had
expected cogging, I'll try it tonight with a low level DC drive and
see what happens. It would make a very neat tensioner in my system, I
am already using another one as a turntable for the coil of wire itself.
