Right, those motors are designed for use with other maker's drives.
Yaskawa may
also make drives for use with generic motors. Those would have the
inputs for
the hall-effect sensors.

Yes, exactly. All their SGMx motors (I think that's the right
designation) use the
same scheme.

Inductors will not limit current. The DRIVE limits the current
automatically.
There should be no problem going with the bigger motor, although you
will only
get the torque the drive/motor combination is rated for.
