New CNC Club in Laurel, MD

Hello,
CAMS (http://www.cams-club.org) is a free club for amateur machinists.
The focus is on metalworking but members work on all kinds of materials
and machines. The club is based in the Baltimore/DC area but members are
scattered around the country. Monthly meetings are in Maryland and
Virginia near Washington DC.
About three years ago we started a spinoff in Springfield VA to focus on
CNC. We started with monthly meetings and attendees numbering in the mid
twenties. A couple of us owned CNC equipment at that time but most were
just starting to explore CNC. These days that group is down to about a
dozen who are seriously pursuing CNC. Several already have machines
running.
We are taking a brief break in Virginia and starting a CNC group in
Laurel, MD (near Washingon DC). Our first meeting was Thur 8 Feb and we
had 27 attendees. Some with machining experience but no programming
background. Some experienced programmers with no machining background.
Some just curious. Some already CNC proficient.
Our next CNC meeting is 7:30pm Thur 8 March (this week) in Laurel, MD.
There is no cost and all are welcome. Contact me for address and
directions or signup on the CAMS list to be kept informed.
