This is only a guess; but USB based CNC systems are in the works
from a number of places.

So I'm guessing that the contorller chip is something like Bert's at
USBcnc, or the Nc-pod, or perhaps even like the DeskCNC unit.

Point is; p-ports are gone for most new computer buyers; and the
next gen of DIY-CNC will have to deal with this fact.
