Ron,

You obviously got just the right amount of release agent. I was too
afraid of getting too loose a fit when I tried this, and had to lap the
nuts in, not a fun task.

Also part of my problem was I had ordered extra lead screw stock and had
made fixtures with short lengths of threaded stock to "core" the nuts. I
was thinking of selling these as bolt-in upgrades for the MAX-NC. There
was enough pitch variation between the length of stock I used to core
the nuts and the screw stock I used in the machine to cause problems.
Each nut had to be lapped to the screw it was to be used on. Even at
that, my X screw had a change in pitch part way through that caused me
problems. It was an aberration I'm sure, but led to my moving on to
ActiveCam nuts.
The longer the engagement, the more sensitive a Moglice nut will be to
minor pitch variations. Sherline seems to have some good screw stock, so
I'd suspect most folks will enjoy the success you did.

I'm still thinking about building up small CNC machines by fixturing
precision ground rectangular bar stock and sliding elements in precise
alignment, and injecting Moglice into the way surfaces.
