My small- 16"x32"- router uses peg board for the top surface. I pull a
vacuum with my shop vac. I put sheets of mylar around the work piece to
cover any extra holes, but there is enough air leakage that the shop vac
does not overheat. I have run jobs of 35-40 minutes without problem.
I made a set of small plywood blocks, about 2"x4", cut at a small angle.
The larger block has 2 1/4" dowel pins drilled into it 3" apart. These
will press into any holes in the peg board along the edge of the work.
The wedge piece can then be slipped in to lock the work. These work
great and are very simple to make.
I think this is about as simple as it gets, and it all works fine. I
doubt anyone can make such a vac table so air tight that a shop vac will
not move enough air to keep reasonably cool.
