The simplest way to measure viscosity is to use a container with a small
hole at the bottom, you pour a known amount of liquid into the container
(the container usually has a fine mark, or is small enough you fill it
to the brim) and then just use a timer/stopwatch to determine how long
it takes for all the liquid to pour out. The hole needs to be smooth,
you can't just puncture a hole in some plastic.

A client of mine (years ago) did this, under-pressure, to check the
consitency of their brand of dog-food (to see how hard poochy had to
strain. :P) Seriously. It was actually part of their marketting at the
time...
