You really do not want to use air to power a press. Imagine pressing a bearing off a shaft. Once the parts separate, there is nothing to restrain the air cylinder from flying to its fully extended position - except maybe fingers and toes. The impact at the end of travel will not be good for things either.

It's kinda like taking spring loaded things apart - things happen fast. I held the end cap once for a guy taking apart a spring loaded vari-speed pulley. One second it was there, the next it was gone - we spotted it as it started falling back towards us.
