The basic design is Chuck McGhee's . We use 3/1 timing belts pulleys and a
XL037 series timing belt.
We got the motors from the surplus center for about $40. The bearing a
precision double row sealed 17MM
ID bearings. We remove the inner seal for the constant oil flow . It is
pretty slick. One night Chuck called me and was telling me he took a plunge
of .025 and peeled the metal right off in a roughing pass. I know Chuck so I
know its true. That is really something. The hardest part of the whole
project is boring the bores for both bearings in line so that everything
would line up when assembled. If you decide to build one I can get you an
aluminum billet from Boeing.
Thanks for the comments.
