If your machine has jog capabilities with an adjustable feedrate or MDI
(manual data entry-spoon feeding g-code one line at a time), that would be
the easiest way. Most DRO systems use linear encoders that directly measure
table movement, rather than rotary encoders. Even systems such as the
Accurite MillPWR conversational CNC retrofit system utilize regular Accurite
glass scale linear encoders in addition to the servo motors.
