That sounds like a really interesting machine, it seems surprising that there
aren't more on the market with there being so much 3d modling software for
little or nothing and PC's powerfull enough to run it with ease.
What kind or resolution are they capable of? I was expecting around 1mm blobs
but it sounds like you are getting much better than that. Also, what kind of
wall thickness for hollow models? If you slow the machine right down could it
go down to 1mm?
The software in the atmel sounds interesting too, bitmaps sound like a huge
amount of wasted data but the machine is running line by line so the format
is ideal. It should be possible to make a fairly simple 3d router controller
in the same way, cut the black bits, don't touch the white bits.
Kind of the opposite to the 3d printer, a 3d shredder maybe :)
cheers
