Wow, very cool. I have occasionally imagined building a machine to do
exactly that, but always assumed it would not be practical. Nice to be
proven wrong! I'm curious how the solder is fed and what that thing is just
above the heated tip, looks like a little tube or something.

Hi,

I've put together a description of how I make my jigs for a selective
soldering robot I have. In addition to using a generic drawing package
to edit dxf files, I also use sheetcam to generate the GCode for Mach3.

It shows the general flow of going from a Cad drawing to finished item.

There is also a video showing the robot in action.

I've now started the conversion of the soldering robot to allow me to
control it from Mach3, as the current control system is very limited and
must be manually programmed. I'll also document this as well once it is
well underway
