I've had great success on my mill drill with:
Keling 1200oz/in steppers
Keiling linear unregulated power supply (65vdc 15amps)
PMDX 132 breakout/driver board (holds 4 Gecko G203V drivers and is plug and
play)
Motor mounts as described in an article in Home shop machinist on CNC
conversion of a mill drill. (forgot the author)
Don't skimp on the motors. For a few extra bucks by large ones and you
won't
ever have any issues with missed steps.
(As mentioned) don't use driver boards with multiple drivers soldered on
board.
You can't go wrong with Gecko drivers= modules and you can changes them
easily if you suspect problems. I bought the G203V versions as they are
pretty much bullit proof.
The PMDX 132 is a beautiful plug and play solution for a direct parallel
port connection.
If you don't have a parallel port then the Smoothstepper works well with
Mach3 and plugs directly into the PMDX with no changes in settings.
The above solution is expensive but will be free of headaches. I've had
absolutely no problems for the last 5 years or so.
