The 720 oz/inch AC syncronous motors on the above page are the ones
I rewired to make large and strong steppers. They work pretty good on my router table.
I get 4"/sec with alot of torque. They tend to be very cheap compared to strong steppers
and the only drawback is a maximum 72RPM. With microstepping you don't have
to gear down much.

You just cut out the circuit board in the back of the motor,
and wire the 4 - 90degree opposing coils together, to create
each of two bipolar windings.

1 ---- 2

3 5

4 6

7---- 8

wire together 1,8,4,5 as wire Phase A common
wire together 2,7,3,6 as wire Phase A Hot

Rotate the motor 90 degrees and repeat the proceedure on the remaining 4 coils for
Phase B.

Thats it, Close the motor up, connect to a controller ( I use 55Volts at 1.8Amps microstepped )
and away you go. They don't heat up and have lots of power, so I think the Voltage could be
increased to about 180VDC with no problem.

Let me know if you need more info.
