I use them extensively running on a Tormach 1100. I use primarily the .3mm
30deg. cutter I believe but I need to check that. Current we are using these
cutters to engrave the product name and Made In USA on Ductile Iron Castings.
The spindle is run at 5140rpms (max available), depth of cut .008" to .010" and
5ipm. The text is .4" tall and in Helvetica Font. Total length of cut by summing

the leters is about 15" and takes 2.6 minutes. The result looks sharp and crisp
and really makes the finished casting stand out.

I bought the cutters from a Chinese seller and they were $1.76 delivered and
arrived in about 10 days via China Post. We have run about 500 casting and I was

not expecting these to last since they are needle sharp and should be run at
more like  20,000rpms, so I ordered 50 cutters. So far we have used three and
the fourth is in the spindle for 500 castings and a couple hundred other parts..

I have also used these in G10-FRP Composite which is by far the toughest
material on tool life that we cut, steel and brass. Without a high speed spindle

the feedrate is slow but the results are very good.

I want to make a couple of name plates for a model locomotive. They are made of
brass and tiny. I have been looking at pointed carbide "engraving" bits from
China on eBay. I assume these are intended for making ciruit boards. I am
wondering if anyone has had experience using these? The one I am considering
using is about .2mm which I beleive works out to about .008"

Any comments or insite would be appreciated.
