Forget inventions .. they Just Dont Work.

My recommendations- budget solution:
1. Get a Pokeys Ethernet with the CNC-addon and install
mach4/mach3(about 60(Pokeys)+80 Add-on (4 axis with 125 kHz engine) iirc).
Has good sw, good support, and a great 125 kHz * hardware * pulse engine.
2. Get some 542 series stepper driver cards (about 45€ each).

Timing is flaky on the usb/and anything raspberry-type stuff.
Sw support is poor/crap/abysmal/nonexistent on most cheap cnc kit, and
about 5% of stuff is missing .. and there are no docs to tell you which
5% is missing.

Some things that may be poorly implemented, and or not standard on
usb-anything, raspberrys etc..
-homing
-probing
-slaving
-accelerations
-motor tuning
-canned cycles
A lot of standard g-code will work in all sorts of funky ways, on the
usb boxes.
Its mostly related to the fact that some of the missing 5% of sw
functions are necessary, and often implemented "differently".

There are other gotchas, but the top recommendation is your best bet,
ime, imo.
