There are some demo programs included in Mach3. The Road runner has many examples on YouTube. Mach3 also has wizards for some common things, like bolt circles.
If you don't have it, I suggest you download the Mach3 manual. It can answer most all of your questions.

This is the perfect time to be starting in CAD/CAM. It has been a struggle in the past, but today there is Fusion 360, a state of the art 3d modeling program with CAM included. And it's free, unless you make $100k per year with it. There are many tutorials online, probably most on YouTube.

I have no affiliation with them, just a happy user. I prefer it to PT Creo (Pro-E), and I think it rivals Solidworks in modeling, plus SW has no built in CAM, although there are some free plugins for 2.5 D CAM.

Just got a complete CNC machine w/Mach 3. Got the Mach3 downloaded and installed. The machine's axis have all been connected and tested. But this is as far as I've been able to go, at this time. This is a question that probably been kicked around for some time by novices and still comes up from time to time?

This senior novice would like to hear from others that have gone through this process and don't mind sharing their expertise. First of all would like to set up a Simple project to get familiar with mach 3 and the machine. Also I believe the next step would be to find a basic Free cad/cam or just a cad to draw a simple accurate drilling project I have in mind? In that respect, would my current mach 3 already have enclosed the programs to this for me, if I took the time to study & learn its capabilities? It seems like an excellent program that has just about thought of everything.

That just about does it .... hope this may help? I'm sure I left out some pertinent information so If there be any questions do not hesitate to ask. Sort of in a sticking point on the next step. Os is XP3.  A list of some free programs that the Forum can lead me to would be very helpful.

Any an all suggestions or direction would be very much appreciated. Thank you for your consideration an assistance. PM   -   USAF 62-66
