I have a YCI Supermax of about that same vintage, and though I have never
"measured" details on a Bridgeport, I have the impression that the YCI "knee
mill" is a "thread-for-thread copy" of the same-size Bridgeport. The ONLY
difference, I have been lead to believe, is that the FASTENER HEADS are
metric! Not "3/4 hex" but 19 mm, and not "7/8 hex" but 22 mm., etc. I may
be all-wrong.
I have pondered fitting it with ball-screws just to take out the back-lash,
not with the idea of fitting CNC to it, but, heck, a ball-screw kit costs
about half as much as the whole machine cost when it was new and delivered!
I would be interested to hear if you know a "drop-right-in" ball-screw kit!
But so long as it remains "manual", I think ball-screw conversion is
[deleted] into the wind! Wot?
