EMC-Making chips

This weekend, I got tired of watching EMC running on my little Sherline and
decided to convert my bigger mill/drill over. It had Maxnc on it and it is
a machine that makes parts and money for me. But, onward and upward! The
process was fairly painless. Radio Shack sells a "RS-232 adapter" that's
really DB-25 plugs with a pc board between them. So, I crossed all the
appropriate signals and plugged into the controller with this adapter
between the DB25 cord and my computer.
Everything seems to be working fine. The acceleration and velocity are set
with a bit of tweaking. It actually runs a lot smoother that it did with
Maxnc, probably due to being able to set acceleration.
Jon, I used your CAM programs- THANKS! Makebore is great. I used it to
mill out a bracket to convert the Z-axis to a ballscrew/ballnut
arrangement. No more worm/wormwheel quill problems now!
I tried a lot of things. Here's a question for Fred or Matt: When running
a G83 peck drill cycle, I noticed an excess amount of dwell time in the
bottom of holes. Can this be modified by specifying a P word in the code?
Tonight, I have to get back to work making actual production parts for
someone, and EMC is staying on my mill. It looks like this is going to
work out very well.
Thanks everyone for all the help!
