sounds like the same thing that Win-NT and Win-ME are doing to
eliminate pure DOS mode and use a cosmetic DOS emulation
under full windows control (ie. no direct port access)

you will probably have to keep a DOS boot floppy from win9x or earlier
to keep it working with CNCPRO
