What type of info or links are you looking for on this?? I am using an Epic
pocket plus programmer from Micro Engineering Labs (http://www.melabs.com)
and it works well. They are about $50.00. I would give high praise for the
PICBasic Pro compiler they sell also. It doesn't take very many projects
before the cost of the compiler and the programmer is amortized in
comparison to Basic Stamps. I have also created my own tach but did it on
one of the flash chips (16F84). I agree on the learning part. I could have
had a tach built much quicker by getting Dan's kit, but the challenge to
create my own was more compelling.
