I have no experience with DesKAM, but I have used DeskNC DOS version and
found it a little difficult to set up but very easy to use one configured. I
would highly recommend it for someone just starting with CNC and looking for
a program that can drive steppers from g-code. It does seem to drive the
steppers less smoothly than EMC, but I did not find this to be detrimental
to the program.
