Bill,
No, they're not flap screws. They're replacements or reworked screws
off some very large machine tool. Obviously high quality and
precision ground not rolled. The original cost had to be well into
the thousand$, but who needs a ball screw that large?
Boeing doesn't sell parts like reject flap screws. At one time they
did, but had problems with vendors buying them and reselling to the
company as good parts. There was quite a scandal a few years ago
over some out of spec high strength bolts which were surplused,
purchased by a vendor and resold to the company again.
