Hmmm. A long time ago in a place far, far away I use to use various epoxy
products for restoring fits and parts. In X-Y applications I think that the
liquid products may not be cost effective. For one of the retrofits that I
did, I used the turcite acme leadscrew power nuts from PIC Design
1-800-243-6125. A 5/8 10 thread power nut with virtually zero backlash is
$14. A two piece antibacklash power nut is 22.50.
They sell precision ground acme replacement leadscrews and power nuts from
3/16"Diameter to 5/8" and 4mm to 14 MM with various leads. I would think
that it would be easier to buy one of their mounting brackets for $14 and a
new turcite power nut for another $14 then fool around with trying to cast a
precision drive nut. True that if you need a 3/4 " or larger drive nut then
PIC could not provide a solution.
My thoughts on the subject
