hey guys! thank you for the wonderful welcomes and its GREAT to be a
part of this wonderful group!!

Thanks for the tips and suggestons Ballendo and Tim (and others).

I am not using the locking nut on the z-axis and have put the motors
on just as the instructions from sherline say, so that can't be the
prob heheee. I tried last night to move the XYZ axis by hand and they
are smooth as silk :) I adjusted the Z axis also as suggested by
sherline and everthing works well. The motors are very new, my
brother bought them about 2 years ago in hopes to make a light
drill/engraving machine but never found the time to. Now that I have
the mill he "gave" me the motors to try. I just think they just are
not strong enough.

I am plannig right now to counterbalance the z axis as you guys have
mentioned. I always wondered about all that weight up front but did
not want to "modifly" my new machine. Now that I have seen some pics
of it, its much eaiser :) I like the idea of putting the motor behine
the z-axis and then maybe I will add spings later. I can send pics
but can someone tell me how I send them to the "file" folder?

You mentioned that the 2amp power supply maybe buring out my 1amp
motors? Don't the motors draw as much amps as they need even if you
give them a more amp power supply. If stalled will they not draw MAX
amps regardless of the powersupply?

I spoke with Dan at camtronics and he suggested I use a 10 amp
powersupply for the 180 oz/in 2 amp motors I plan to use. Will this
not cause the same problem? I do not doubt what Dan has said but am
wondering.

thanks again guys!
