Hugh,

This Charles seems to have become a lightening rod for bad luck.
Would like to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I've seen folks
spin some real tall tales to cover their tracks. I would suggest that
you -consider- getting a bit tough and perhaps request copies his
insurance claim on the tree damage. Perhaps he could get something in
writing to verify the truck accident.
I've also seen some people have unbelievable runs of bad luck, maybe
this is another one. But you have been very patient, and I think you
deserve some reassurance that you are being told the truth.
If he cannot come through with copies of claims to back up at least some
of these, I'd suggest trying to get your money back.
Sometimes mention of impending contact with the better Business Berau
and State AG's office can really expedite either delivery or refund.
