Hi all,

If anyone would like to experience British industry at its worst, I
recommend that you try and obtain a back copy of Model Engineers
Workshop magazine from its publishers!!
This morning I spent over half an hour of long distance 'phone call
trying to obtain from them a copy of issue 57 containing the first
article on the EDM machine and its circuit. In that time I spoke to at
least 8 different people (I don't know where they all came from as I was
led to believe that this mag is now produced by some fellow in his front
room) who each passed me on to someone else, mostly without apparently
understanding what I was trying to obtain. What I did discover is that
they have NO back copies of this magazine (do they just print one at a
time as people order them?) and that if you try to obtain a photocopy of
the article, you are unlikely to reach the correct person and, even if
you do, they are unlikely to speak or understand a recognisable Earth
language.
How I long for the days when a 'help desk' was helpful and companies had
enquiry personnel who were intelligent and competent enough to take your
query, sort it out and then get back to you with an answer.
If anyone on the group would be willing to scan and email or photocopy
and post me a copy of the article, I would be eternally grateful and
would, of course, reimburse any costs.
