First I would suggest you check the links on the FAQ page. They are all
related to this groups purpose and just what other have found to be of
value. BTW, if anyone is looking up what is there and can come up with

For a search engine I would suggest you give Dogpile a try. it is a meta
search engine that looks at many engines. It lets you see the top 10 results
from each of the engines it looks at. I find it very handy to pick the
engine that will give the best results with the search at hand. The URL is
