This drawing will not work! As drawn the shaft will pull the bearings
out of the housing until the leadscrew nut contacts the retaining
plate.

I think you forgot the seat for the bearings on the long leadscrew
(left) side of the mounting block. Could be either another retaining
plate, or a "step" in the bore.
