Apparently the on-chassis transformer is not for isolation; maybe it
takes 115 VAC down to the 70 / 105 VAC bus voltage but doesn't do
isolation. The docs distinctly call for 115 VAC isolated input in
several places.
I see your point about "motion controller." This is going to be a
little more involved than I originally thought. The amp is described
as a PWM device; I find this reasuring since I now have some idea of
what that means. (Like looking for lost keys under the only lampost
on the dark street.) Baldor makes a bunch of motion controller
boards, some of which go into PC's. Cost probably equal approx the
GNP of Chad.
The rotary encoder signals must go to the motion controller board
since they apparently don't go to the servo amp--and we're about out
of choices.
Thanks, I will try not to kill myself. Current plans are to die from
heavy metal poisoning from inhaling HSS dust.
