OHHHHhhhhhh...... I know what you are talking about, but I really
can't step you through it. I made it work, but I can't tell you what
order to do things in, and how to make them permanent!

One of the problems is getting the driver for the network card
loaded before the network daemon starts up. I think this was
one of the problems that made me do things manually, every
boot, for a while.

There are files that permit and deny access to various user
accounts. I think they are /etc/allow; /etc/deny; and /etc/hostallow
or something like that. I think I was able to do all the other
configurations through the Red Hat system management
menus.
