Simply that it is very common (in the press, on the media, in gossip
between individuals...etc.) that conspiracy theories are used to
explain events, the actions and motivations of others, etc. - and
particularly events/actions that the people or organizations
concerned do not agree with. In reality, it is often far more
likely that the real reason (bad) things happen is incompetence, cock-
up, or simply accident. But conspiracies are MUCH more fun to
discuss...
