Dave,

Some guys at the egroups list Lathe_2000 have been discussing/trying
this for some time. Look in the files section under Xcretia for some
pics.

As to the surface plate vs. gravestone cost. The common sizes
(1218/1824/2436 b grade) of the import type(enco, msc, and others)
are less expensive than similar size "unused" grave markers. And the
flatness of the surface plate is understood to be to some tolerance;
which will make "setting up" the machine (both during original
construction, and subsequent machine ops) easier.

I too, was seeing this as "support" for "conventional" ways/table.
