Back in my student days I had a summer job doing x-ray on the PLS for the Atlas sites clustered around Spokane, WA. Clustered
meant 60 or 70 miles.
Next summer same thing on the Titan I sites around Larson AFB.

p.s sites were rather primitive when stuff was being installed. Real tough whe lightening take out the power and you are out in
one of the silos.
Later the generators were running and things got easier.
